Solidarity with Palestine lives in Sweden!

Joint statement from:

Revolutionary Communist Youth of Sweden
(Revolutionär Kommunistisk Ungdom)

Last spring, the Communist Party of Sweden received a request from the progressive and secular organization Hanan, which is widely respected for its different humanitarian projects in Gaza. Hanan proposed that the CP of Sweden should aid a specific 6 month project to help students that experience various problems going through the educational system. Some of the children (aged 6-14) have different types of physical disabilities such as bad sight or hearing. Others have been unable to participate in class for shorter or longer periods and therefore need extra help to catch up with their classmates. Both the CP of Sweden and the Revolutionary Communist Youth of Sweden agreed to use all our efforts to realize the goal of $45.200 to cover all costs for the project.

Fundraising began in late august and continued during the automn. Money was collected collectively among colleagues at industries, schools and other work places. In Gothenburg, a solidarity party was organized by RKU, in Jönköping a theatrical performance on the subject was given by members of the local party branch. Countless of other meetings and activities has informed about the situation in Palestine and has tried to motivate people to contribute.

The party's weekly paper "Proletären" has continuously given reports on the campaign and lists of donators have been published.

Hundreds of individual and collective contributions, big and small, has added up to the achievement of $80.000. We are glad to report that the exceeded goal enables the project to continue two additional months.

CP of Sweden and RKU are small organizations. We cannot perform miracles. However, by concentrating our efforts towards a concrete goal, solidarity can make a difference.

Long live Palestine!
Long live the Resistance!
